Blues Book Last Four Spot

Chelsea were able to qualify for the semi-final of the Champions League following a 2-0 victory over PSG at Stamford Bridge last night.

The tie finished 3-3 on aggregate but the Blues go through on away goals after scoring in Paris in the opening leg.

Andre Schurrle broke the deadlock in the first half when the ball broke to him inside the box off a corner to reward first goalscorer backers at Betfair. The German made no mistake to reduce Chelsea’s deficit.

Petr Cech, inside the hosts’ goal, played his part in the victory as he pulled off a couple of crucial saves when the scoreline was still 1-0. First he kept out Ezequiel Lavezzi with an athletic stop, while later in the half he denied Marquinhos from levelling up on the night and giving the French club the advantage once again.

The winning goal for Chelsea came with just three minutes left on the clock. Substitute Demba Ba proved to be the hero as he made no mistake from six yards to put the Premier League side through.

It could still be a successful season for the west London club as they have an outside chance of winning the double which can be backed at Betfair. They will learn their opponents for the semi-final of the premier European competition on Friday, while they are still in contention for the league title.

Chelsea travel to Wales at the weekend to take on Swansea at the Liberty Stadium where Betfair make them favourites to come away with three points. They are currently two points off the top of the table which is occupied by Liverpool. Favourites Manchester City in the sports market have to travel to Anfield to take on the league leaders on Sunday.
