BACK IN STYLE

Franck Ribery came back to action in style as he scored a couple of thunderous goals for his club Bayern Munich in a Champions League game against Victoria Plzen yesterday and helped his team win by a huge margin of 5-0.

Ribery hadn’t played for the Bundesliga Champions in their last game which was against Mainz.

This was Munich’s 3rd consecutive victory in the ongoing Champions League. Now, they are very close to make it to the next round.

On the other hand, for Plzen, it was third successive loss in the competition. They are right at the last position in the Group D points table at the moment.

This was the first time in the last 42 years that Munich and Plzen were taking on each other. The last time when these two teams had locked horns in 1971, Munich had won by 7-1 on aggregate.

Apart from Ribery, the other guys who found the net for Munich in yesterday’s game were Bastian Schweinsteiger, David Alaba and Mario Goetze. All three of them scored one goal each.

Talking to the reporters at the end of the game, Ribery said, “It’s great that I did well in my comeback game and the team won. But, the upcoming games are not easy. So, we shouldn’t relax. It’s very important for us to secure victory in our next game which is going to be at Plzen.”

The result of this game would not have surprised anybody. Everyone was expecting this sort of dominance from the reigning champions Munich and the German club proved the speculations right. They completely crushed their opposition.

Bayern Munch’s next game is a Bundesliga encounter against TSG Hoffenheim. That game will take place on 2nd of November at Rhein-Neckar Arena.
