Lyon might strengthen during the window

Olympique Lyonnais chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has stated that he is pleased with his team’s performance so far and there might be some new players joining the team during the transfer window.

After a poor start to the season Olympique Lyonnais form have improved during recent weeks. The club has managed to win 6 times during the past seven games. This good form has allowed them to climb the table and to reach the fourth place. This is close to Olympique Lyonnais objective of qualifying for the Champions League.

Jean-Michel Aulas said that they are looking for players that can strengthen the team during the January transfer window but there are some conditions that the new players might need to fulfill. First of all, they are looking for a player that will not be participating at the African Cup of Nations as they will already be without some key players due to this tournament.

Secondly, they are looking for players that can play in the Europa League as Olympique Lyonnais has the intention of going as far as they can in this tournament.

Aulas said that the Ligue 1 has become quite competitive during recent seasons and that his club will need to improve if they want to win the title. He said that the good performance of Nice during this campaign shows that you can challenge club such as Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco even if you are on a smaller budget.

He said that the key is to find players that are prepared to fight and to win games whatever the cost. He said that Olympique Lyonnais would be taking advantage of the winter break to look for new players and to make sure that they are ready for the start of the second half of the season.
